Validation of optimization method for culture medium design in order to produce benthic diatom Haslea ostrearia for industry
The global project is about studying continuous production of marennine (blue pigment) excreted in the environment by Haslea ostrearia. The marennine pigment possess interesting features for industries, we expected so to optimize the milking process (The microalgae stay alive and exude it metabolite in the environment) until industrial scale in solar condition.
Haslea ostrearia culture is sensitive and misanderstood. Previous studies show a low growth rate and low biomass production. GEPEA scientists have held many factors liable for the low growth rate of Haslea but recently we thinks only the composition of microelement of the culture medium could be responsible for it.
